ECOsurfaces® Joins CHPS in its Effort to Improve the Quality of Education for Our Nation's Children - July 2007
JULY 5, 2007— ECOsurfaces® Commercial Flooring has been certified by an independent laboratory to meet the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria (Section 01350) for indoor air quality in classrooms as described in the State of California's Department of Health Services Standard Practice.
CHPS is the nation's first school building rating program created to facilitate the design of high performance schools. Any California school that specifies and installs ECOsurfaces® recycled rubber flooring can qualify for points under Indoor Environmental Quality Credit EQ2.2. A CHPS-certified school is a school that has strived to achieve excellence in environmental efficiency and healthy building practices.
All ECOsurfaces® products are made from the highest quality, cleaned and shredded tire rubber (100% post-consumer waste) and colorful EPDM flecks (30% pre-consumer waste). Each line – ECOnights®, ECOearth®, ECOstone®, ECOrocks®, ECOsand™, ECOcomfort, ECOsilence™ and ECOmax® – supports the ASTM Sustainability Assessment, enabling designers and specifiers to celebrate the green properties and sustainability of ECOsurfaces® products. Attributes include excellent slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions, superior durability, hides dirt and stains extremely well, meets the Washington State standard for low VOC emissions, features bright, consistent color throughout, and facilitates easy installation and maintenance. ECOsurfaces®, available in 70 standard colors, can also be customized using a 31-color palette for a personalized design.
